The Apple iPad Has Arrived and It Is Here to Stay

The new iPad has definitely become the apple of everyone's eye in recent months. Apple has garnered unmatched success yet again in their launch of this innovative device that everyone seems to love. In fact, it's all we've been hearing about for the longest time and a majority of consumers want to get their hands on this bad boy.

The Apple iPad is easily the most talked about device in 2010, but the big question is - can it live up to all the hype? In this article, we will discuss some of the most important features of the iPad and provide a brief explanation on why we think this device will get even bigger.

Interfacing

Nowadays, a device's user interface has become one of the most important aspects of any device. Most manufacturers come up with their own interface and place it on top of an operating system such as Google's Android or Microsoft's Windows Mobile.

As for Apple, everything is done in house. The OS we find in the iPhone is the iOS and this is very similar to the one found in the Apple iPad. This means that if you're an iPhone user, you won't have any trouble getting used to the iPad's interface. It has been excellently modified by the manufacturer to ensure that the tablet's bigger screen is maximised.

One thing about the iPad's interface that we must commend is the virtual keyboard. Because of the larger screen, it is much easier to use than that of the iPhone's. The touch screen display also sports the resistive technology which guarantees unbridled responsiveness.

Web Access

Perhaps the best part of the Apple iPad is its excellent internet features. In terms of mobile devices, the iPad is as close as you'd get to an actual Mac or PC. One click of an icon will automatically bring out the Safari web browser which is as impressive as ever. Email support is also immaculate on the iPad especially if you've gotten used to the email features of the iPhone.

Having a bigger screen has really made a difference and Apple was definitely successful in maximising it to ensure that their applications are as good as they can be.

One of the downsides of the iPad is its lack of Adobe Flash support. Then again, if you've gotten used to this on the iPhone then you shouldn't have any problems. In fact, we've only encountered two or three Flash-related issues on the iPad after going through hundreds of different websites. Plus, Apple is coming out with their software that will replicate the function of Adobe Flash so watch out for that one.

A Portable Computer?

The Apple iPad is definitely one heck of a device. Some critics have even gone as far as saying that it can be considered as an alternative to a notebook or a laptop computer. It has most of the basic features you require from a portable computer so in this regard; we could say that these critics have a point.

However, due to the lack of crucial notebook features (e.g. a USB port), we can still say that it isn't at the level of a MacBook just yet. Besides, why would Apple manufacture a device that would serve as competition to their own product, right?
